Leadership Shift at CSK as Dhoni Takes Charge for IPL 2025

MS Dhoni, the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), has once again taken over the captaincy for the remainder of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. This decision comes after current captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was sidelined due to a hairline fracture in his elbow, sustained during a match against Rajasthan Royals. Although Gaikwad continued playing despite his injury, he has now been forced to rest and recover.
At 43, Dhoni has been a cornerstone of CSK’s success since its inception in 2008, leading the team to five IPL titles. He handed over the captaincy to Gaikwad ahead of the 2024 season, but with Gaikwad unavailable, Dhoni has stepped in to guide the team for the rest of the season.
This season, CSK has faced some struggles, currently sitting in ninth place out of ten teams after losing four of their first five matches. With Dhoni back at the helm, the team hopes to improve its performance and climb the standings.
