Jadumani Singh Advances in Boxing Rising Star Makes His Mark on the National Stage

Jadumani Singh, a promising young boxer from Manipur, is swiftly climbing the ranks of Indian boxing with a series of impressive performances at national and regional competitions. Known for his grit, agility, and technical finesse inside the ring, Singh is now being hailed as one of the most exciting prospects in Indian boxing.

Early Beginnings and Background

Hailing from a modest background in Imphal, Manipur, Jadumani Singh was drawn to boxing at a young age. Inspired by legends like Mary Kom and Vijender Singh, Jadumani began his journey at a local boxing academy when he was just 11. His talent was evident from the beginning, and under the guidance of experienced coaches, he quickly developed into a technically sound and tactically sharp boxer.

Singh’s early success came in the form of district and state-level championships, where he consistently outperformed older and more experienced competitors. His agility, quick footwork, and sharp counterpunching skills earned him recognition among the local boxing circuit.

National Breakthrough

Jadumani’s breakthrough came during the 2024 Sub-Junior National Boxing Championship, where he clinched a silver medal in the 54kg weight category. His poise in the ring and the ability to read opponents’ strategies caught the attention of national selectors and boxing analysts alike.

Following this, he was selected to train at the Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports (NSNIS) in Patiala, where he has access to world-class facilities, coaching, and training partners. This shift marked a turning point in his career, allowing him to refine his technique and build physical endurance.

In early 2025, Singh went on to win gold at the All India Inter-University Boxing Championship, a victory that solidified his reputation as one of the top contenders in his weight class. He also earned praise for his disciplined approach and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.

Recent Achievements

Most recently, Jadumani Singh advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2025 National Elite Men’s Boxing Championship, held in Pune. Facing off against some of the top names in Indian boxing, he displayed maturity and determination well beyond his years. In a particularly intense bout against a seasoned opponent from Services Sports Control Board, Singh managed a narrow but decisive win, earning him a place among the top eight fighters in the competition.

Though he narrowly missed a medal, his performance was lauded by coaches and former champions who see him as a strong candidate for future international representation.

Future Prospects

Looking ahead, Jadumani Singh’s goals include representing India at the Asian Boxing Championships and eventually qualifying for the 2026 Commonwealth Games. With support from the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) and the Manipur state sports department, he is being groomed for international success.

Singh remains humble and focused, attributing his progress to “discipline, hard work, and the support of my coaches and family.” His journey serves as an inspiration to many aspiring athletes from the Northeast and beyond.
